Watch Yourself

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Prayer

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
- 1 John 5:14

When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
- James 4:3

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
- James 1:6-8

You will receive whatever you ask for in prayer, if you believe.
- Matthew 21:22

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.
- Romans 8:26-27

Our Eyes

Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is unclouded, your whole body is full of light. But when your eye is evil, your body is full of darkness.

- Luke 11:34

They say that the eyes are the mirrors of the soul. I thought it was just a saying until I heard this verse.

Mind Power

"You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control." — Elizabeth Gilbert

This is the same as Law of Attraction which somehow, makes sense..

Things Happen for a Reason

Things happen for a reason what ever you going through God knows why it's happening!!

Found this on my best friend's wife's status. I initially heard

All things happen for a purpose

from my best friend, and I believe in both of those saying, which is complementing each other. And I somehow I know the reason of what I'm going through now. And I know God will put me through this

Oh no, End of the World is My Birthday!

OAKLAND, California (AP) — As crestfallen followers of a California preacher who foresaw the world's end strained to find meaning in their lives, Harold Camping revised his apocalyptic prophecy, saying he was off by five months and the Earth actually will be obliterated on Oct. 21.

Full story here

Though of course, I don't believe it. I only believe in what the Bible states in Matthew 24:36.

Worries

What worries you, Masters you

I just saw this on one of my FB friends and made me realize that it is indeed true. Worrying about something doesn't make things better. Nor does it fix things that you are worried about. So it controls you. But we should control it and not let it control us. I try not to worry about stuffs, but that doesn't mean I am good at not being a worrier. Nor does it mean that I'm an overly carefree person.

How to Keep a Marriage

I found this from a news article, an advice coming from Manny Pacquiao's wife Jinkee Pacquiao how to keep a marriage.

1) Don’t be too proud. You cannot be a doormat that he can step on. But keep the communication lines open. Don’t sleep without trying to make amends. Talk things over and try to resolve the problem.

2) Men are like little children. They still need to be cuddled and loved. They need attention. When he remembers you with thoughtful gifts, show your appreciation and compliment him. Thank him for working so hard to provide for the family.

3) Support his dreams, whatever they are. (Manny fell in love with me all over again because I campaigned for him during the 2010 elections.)

4) Find time to go on vacation with the family, be it only in Tagaytay or Baguio. Make that your bonding time.

5) Stay beautiful. Take care of your body. Stay sexy and make him proud to be with you.

6) Take time to laugh together. When you talk, don’t make it about family problems and children all the time. Flirt with him a little. Bring back your “dating” behavior.

7) Pray. Always make prayers a part of your marriage and your family. That really helps a lot.
-- as the saying goes, the family that prays together stays together, and I really believe that when a couple makes God the center of their marriage, it will be a blessed one.

The Revolving Internet

For those who are bored with their normal search engines, maybe you should try this. It's also cool because every resulting link from that search engine will act differently too

Talking to self

You are not crazy if you talk to yourself or if you answer yourself. You are only crazy if you interrupt your own conversation.

lol, I can relate to this so much! Though I dont talk loudly to myself unless I'm analyzing work stuffs lol. Glad I dont interrupt my own conversation hahaha

Friends and Life's Ups and Downs

When you are up in life,
Your friends get to know who you are.

But

When you are down in life,
You get to know who your friends are...
I found this in one of friend's FB status and I really like this quote.

Know When It's a Hoax

It's common to receive tons of information when one is browsing on the web or just reading emails but as there are valid information, there are also hoaxes. These may come even from trusted friends and family. How do you know if what you are reading is a hoax or not?

Here's a good list:

  1. It points out that it "is a completely true story," or that it's "perfectly legal." If the author feels he or she has to make it clear, it's probably not so.
  2. It relates an account of events that supposedly happened to an unidentified third person (i.e., "the dear son of the neighbor of a guy my boss knows.") How far the author is removed from the subject is usually directly proportional to how far the subject is removed from reality.
  3. It claims to give you information that the media or government doesn't want you to have. Conspiracies are fun to believe, and most often full of hot air.
  4. It "name drops," that is, mentions well-known companies or individuals that could be logically connected to the subject matter, without providing validation that they are connected.
  5. It warns of some bizarre way to contract cancer, AIDS, or any other terrible (and high-profile) disease, or some other bizarre way to die or become seriously injured.
  6. It contains references to "yesterday" or "last week," but doesn't say exactly when that was. Chain letters often arrive in our inboxes looking exactly as they did days, weeks, months, even years ago.
  7. After reading it, you are either angry, scared, worried, or distrustful and want to do something about it. Emotions are a strong motivator, and hoaxters know this. They'll do everything they can to keep you from thinking critically.
  8. It asks, begs or bullies you to forward it on to everyone you know.

Facebook Feature Alert: Tag People Without Their Surname

There's a new Facebook tagging feature. We're no allowed to tag people without their surname. How? Read here

Robert Pattinson too famous to trust

This is the price of being famous. I'm glad I turned down the offer to be a superstar lol

The 24-year-old actor - who was relatively unknown until he landed the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight: Saga' films - is more guarded around people now because he can never be sure of their motives.

In an interview with Germany's Gala magazine, he said: "I miss meeting new people. It sounds weird to say that as an actor, but I'm talking about really getting to know someone. Usually I ask myself whether I can really trust someone and that's why most of my acquaintances stay rather superficial."

God's Promise

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

A man's love

A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest. ~ Irish Proverb

4 Way Test

Since I had encountered this, I try to practice the 4 way test.

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to All Concerned?
3. Will it Build GOODWILL and Better Friendships?
4. Will it Be BENEFICIAL to All Concerned?

This is quite similar to a saying

If you have nothing good to say, then don't say it.

which I try to follow

Wicked people and gossipers

What are worthless and wicked people like? They are constant liars, signaling their deceit with a wink of the eye, a nudge of the foot, or the wiggle of fingers. Their perverted hearts plot evil, and they constantly stir up trouble. But they will be destroyed suddenly, broken in an instant beyond all hope of healing.

Proverbs 6:12-15

I heard this verse last Thursday's worship service and I was amazed at how the Bible accurately describes gossipers

No rain, no rainbow

Everybody wants to be happy,
Nobody wants to feel pain,
But you'll never see a rainbow,
Until after the rain.

This is somehow like this

Compromise

Life is a compromise of what your ego wants to do, what experience tells you to do and what your nerves let you do.

Now I really have to ponder what I should do lol

God Answers

Isaiah 55:8
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."

Somehow, this verse reminds me of this quote:

GOD answers prayer in 3 ways :
HE says YES & gives you what you want.
HE says NO and gives you BETTER.
HE says WAIT & gives you the BEST EVER

Mmm.. Mangoes

Ever since I was a kid, I had always loved mangoes, and still do. The only thing that keeps me from eating too much of this fruit is having prickly heat. This fruit is in season now, and it is our dessert here at work. I said I try to stop myself from eating too much, so I just ate one for dessert and another one for afternoon snack lol. As being health conscious, this made me curious as to what nutrients are in mangoes. And this is what I found from here

Health benefits of Mangoes

  • Mango fruit is rich in pre-biotic dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and poly-phenolic flavonoid antioxidant compounds.
  • According to new research study, mango fruit has been found to protect against colon, breast, leukemia and prostate cancers. Several trial studies suggest that polyphenolic anti-oxidant compounds in mango are known to offer protection against breast and colon cancers.
  • Mango fruit is an excellent source of Vitamin-A and flavonoids like beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, and beta-cryptoxanthin. 100 g of fresh fruit provides 765 mg or 25% of recommended daily levels of vitamin A. Together, these compounds are known to have antioxidant properties and are essential for vision. Vitamin A is also required for maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin. Consumption of natural fruits rich in carotenes known to protect body from lung and oral cavity cancers.
  • Fresh mango is a very rich source of potassium. Potassium in an important component of cell and body fluids that helps controlling heart rate and blood pressure.
  • It is also a very good source of vitamin-B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin-C and vitamin-E. Consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful oxygen free radicals. Vitamin B-6 or pyridoxine is required for GABA hormone production in the brain. It also controls homocystiene levels in the blood which may otherwise be harmful to blood vessels resulting in CAD and stroke.
  • Copper is a co-factor for many vital enzymes, including cytochrome c-oxidase and superoxide dismutase (other minerals function as co-factors for this enzyme are manganese and zinc). Copper is also required for the production of red blood cells.
  • Mango peels are also rich in phytonutrients, such as the pigment antioxidants like carotenoids and polyphenols.

I didn't know that mangoes are rich in vitamin B, are good for fighting stroke and high blood pressure. Now this is really my fruit lol

Osama Bin Laden dies at 54

Osama Bin Laden's death was announced today, which made the world rejoice. Now I can't help but remember this song (I'm not sure what the title is lol)

I started a joke, which started the whole world crying
But I didnt see, that the joke was on me

Till I finally died, which started the whole world living...

106th World Fair

The logo of Google today is another beautiful one, your mouse turns to a magnifying lens when you hover on different parts of the logo. Too bad I couldn't capture it here
