Exercise for the mind and body

I have been itching to write for some time now... there are a lot of thoughts running through my head on things I could write (or rant). Some of them insightful while some might raise a lot of eyebrows if I were to share them in public. So I'm reviving this blog and let's see if I can keep this up again.

~~~~~~~
I should always exercise. I notice that when I do in the mornings, it keeps me lively and happy during the rest of the day. Household chores are easily done too. And it relieves my back pain. Unfortunately, I don't have that strong self-control to train myself to do just that. Especially since I'm hooked on some mobile games. But the worship service lesson taught last Wednesday really motivated me a lot.
The verse 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 states that "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."And since some of my motivations to be healthier is those joining the American Ninja Warrior, I can very well relate to the athlete analogy.
And so I started Thursday doing exercises. I still don't have a regular set of exercises but will slowly get there. And hopefully, I can maintain doing the exercises regularly as well blogging.
Potato Couch
Been wanting to post in a long while but not finding the right time. Or the mood for a long or wordy post lol. So what's keeping me busy these days? Well, I've been watching a lot of TV series and here are my favorite TV shows.
  1. Scorpion
  2. How to Get Away with Murder (Season 1 has just finished, looking forward to the next season)
  3. The Walking Dead
And here are other TV shows that I enjoy as well, though they're no longer ranked
  • The Flash
  • Sherlock Holmes (still on the second episode of Season 1 as I wrote this lol)
  • Big Bang Theory
  • 12 Monkeys
  • Agents of SHIELD
And here are other shows I'm waiting for the next season to be shown
  • The Strain
  • Dracula (not sure if they're going to make another season though)
So yes, I'm really busy
Punch the stress away
Stress is part of daily life. It can be caused by our profession, our friends and family, or our environment. But it doesn't mean we have to live a life full of it. As one being stressed out by what matters most to me, I need to find a way to cope with this and luckily found this article.
Busy Me and Pinterest
My busy schedule has prevented me from updating my blog. It has also made me let go of my 2-3 part time jobs that I have and just stick to my full time job. (I can say I now have a work-life balance though since I have a busy life away from busy work lol)
Anyway, just recently, I was able to try Pinterest and I found out that's it's an easy way of sharing my interests. It suits busy people like me, and hopefully, will be a way to check back on links that I like. Anyhow, feel free to follow me
Been awhile
It has been a very long while since I last posted here. The end of March started busy days for me. My personal life is undergoing lots of changes and juggling this with my career is enough to take most of my free time away. Not that I am complaining. And I won't leave blogging. But might not be as active as before. Until I can get settled down again. Nothing to complain, God is good all the time.
Medical Malpractice
Yesterday, my mom and I went to the nearby Alabang Medical Clinic to have her see a cardiologist. The diastolic reading of her blood pressure sometimes reaches 60-40 and my natural doctor friend suggest that she see a cardiologist just to be sure. When it was her time for the checkup, the doctor just asked her what she's feeling. She said that there are times that she feels the shortness of breath. The doctor then immediately prescribed Nebicar to her. I asked the doctor what's the purpose of the medicine. He said that it's for my mom's heart because she's experiencing chest pain, and even asked me if she is experiencing chest pain. I told him why ask me and I said he ask her. Then he said she said so. I was already in doubt at this stage, and became more unbelieving when he said that there are med reps outside who gives free samples, we just need to show them the prescription. He also recommended that my mom have an ECG and made another request for it. I asked him about the diastolic reading and he said that it's because of my mom's age. The ECG turned out ok. I asked my natural doctor friend about Nebicar, what are its medications. She told me that it's used to treat hypertension and acute cardiac insufficiency. Cardiac insufficiency? And acute already? Wow, that doctor must be a genius since he just asked one question and knows that my mom have that severe illness? It's really sad how the medicine world had become very commercialized. Their oath to protect lives has gone out the windows.
I had done a research on Nebicar and learned that it have a lot of recorded side effects, one of which is heart failure. Wow! A heart medicine that can cause a heart failure.
This isn't the first time that this happened to us. A few months back, my mom was admitted in the same hospital (unfortunately, this is the only one accessible to us) because of stomach problems and I wasn't feeling good myself. Because of the stress of us being sick at the same time, my mom's blood pressure went to 140/80 and she was immediately given a hypertension maintenance drug which she needs to take even when she was discharged from the hospital. Wow. I don't know why these doctors are in a hurry to prescribe medicines but not take time to check if their patients really need them. Can you blame me if I believe less and less on modern, commercialized doctors and favor the alternative, natural medicine?
Happy 19th Birthday to me!
Earlier, I had posted that end of the world is my birthday. My birthday ended and nothing end-of-the-world-y happened. But what happened today are:
  • 2nd day of another full time job. I applied, got interviewed, and started yesterday with this job. Though it's still in the testing phase, I hope this is the start of good start (redundant eh? lol)
  • Lots of part-time opportunities. I need a part-time job now specially that I'm not sure how much I'll get in the testing phase of my current full time job, if any. Though I really hope that I'll get paid
  • Just for laughs, I earlier posted that a job interview made me wait an hour and a half which resulted from the interview being cancelled by me. (Well, I really hate time-wasters). Now, the recruiter messaged me early in the morning inquiring what position I'm applying. I was surprised and I'm really wondering if I'm still interested for that job because I'm really not interested in working with her lol
  • The highlight of my birthday is when our beloved pastor went to our home. I really feel blessed.
Enjoy Life
There are 5 things in life you can not recover:
A stone...after it's thrown.
A word...after it is said.
An occasion...after it's missed.
The time...after it's gone.
A person...after they die.
Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile, Enjoy Life.
Things Happen for a Reason
Things happen for a reason what ever you going through God knows why it's happening!!
Found this on my best friend's wife's status. I initially heard
All things happen for a purpose
from my best friend, and I believe in both of those saying, which is complementing each other. And I somehow I know the reason of what I'm going through now. And I know God will put me through this
Worries
What worries you, Masters you
I just saw this on one of my FB friends and made me realize that it is indeed true. Worrying about something doesn't make things better. Nor does it fix things that you are worried about. So it controls you. But we should control it and not let it control us. I try not to worry about stuffs, but that doesn't mean I am good at not being a worrier. Nor does it mean that I'm an overly carefree person.
Compromise
Life is a compromise of what your ego wants to do, what experience tells you to do and what your nerves let you do.
Now I really have to ponder what I should do lol
